Morgan De Sanctis

Thank you Morgan for everything you did in 2008 - 2009 season.

His contract has ended and he will be returning to Seville next week. He played 40 matches for Galatasaray and he did a great job. Some of the fans criticized him about the goals he conceded but they do not know that he is one of the best goalkeepers of Italy. We will be missing you.

What a Signature !

(Sabri Sarioglu is a player who is hated by the Galatasaray fans although he is a great fan of Galatasaray. He is very talentless and ineffective in the pitch. The only thing he does is running. Every Galatasaray fan would want to see him release from the club. Also he is hated because of the discussions he has with the referees and opponents.)

According to Official Galatasaray website, Sabri Sarioglu signed a new contract for 7 years worth 70 million dollars. President Adnan Polat claimed that, "It is an honour to have a player like Sabri. His talents can help Galatasaray to win every title possible. He is a great model for everyone. I believe that other members will be very happy to play under Sabri's captaincy." Also as it is seen in the media, fans rushed to training facilities to congratulate Sabri. They are glad that he is still in the team and the leader of the ship. Sabri's comments to this signing were interesting. He said that he had many offers but he didn't wanted to play less than 10 million dollars a year.

King Is Not Leaving !

(Luis Aragones won the European Championship last summer with Spain and Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim appointed him as the new manager of Fenerbahce. The team had the worse season ever with Luis Aragones. He had many problems and discussions with many players. All of the fans hates gim and wants him to resign.)

Luis Aragones may not had a great season, but he said that he has more work to do with Fenerbahce. As he claimed, the team played a very good football all season long and it is over the Turkish Super League quality. He thinks that he has a future in Istanbul. Also all the board members are very happy with the comments. They imagine that losing a valuable manager like Aragones, would hurt Fenerbahce and Turkish football. Him, leaving would be like a father abondoning his sons. 

Turkish but German Stars

After the agreement about enhancing work force between Germany and Turkey in 1960’s, the Turkish population started to increase in German borders. In early days, Turks went Germany as ‘guest workers’ but later on they stayed there and got German citizenship. So the interaction between Germans, Turks and football started in those days.

With the discipline of Germans and with the passion and flair of Turks, admiring football players started to come up. The Turkish talents started to get the required training to become high regard football players in German academies. As a result of these progresses, players like Mehmet Scholl, Hamit Altintop, Halil Altintop, Nuri Sahin, Mesut Ozil, Serdar Tasci, Hakan Balta, Umit Davala, Ilhan Mansiz and Yildiray Basturk became important football players in the world.

Because they were raised in a foreign country, some players have problems to find their real identity, which we can understand with the choices of national teams to play. Although they are Turkish citizens and speak Turkish as mother tongue, some players choose German national team to play. The main reason of this is, the law in German constitution. It is written that if a sports player that rose in Germany prefers to play for another country, should accept to relinquish the rights of German citizenship. After this announcement, more Turkish young players started to choose German national team. Most notable ones like Mesut Ozil (20) and Serdar Tasci (22) got underway with Germany.

There are also valuable Turkish players that preferred to play for Turkey. Borussia Dortmund’s playmaker Nuri Sahin, Chelsea FC’s young star Gokhan Tore and Bayern Munich’s promising winger Deniz Yilmaz are couple of them, to generate future Turkish stars. 

Besiktas vs. Fenerbahce

This weekend, we have important `Istanbul Derby` between two big clubs, Besiktas and Fenerbahce. If Besiktas really wants to be champions, they should be able to beat Fenerbahce at Inonu and expect the league leader, Sivasspor, to lose points. Currently, Sivasspor is lying in the first place with 60 points and Besiktas is just behind them with 59 points.

Besiktas has created a magnificent friendship and team spirit with signing new manager Mustafa Denizli. He made the team play a more collaborative, active and impressive football. Before, with Ertugrul Saglam, team played a defensive football and fans were unhappy about it. Everyone wants to watch a stunning match either they are in the stadium or in their own couch.

When we look both teams last 6 match performances, we definetly say that Besiktas is one step ahead. Besiktas won 5 games and had a goalless draw against Bursaspor. Fenerbahce lost 3 games, drawed in 2 and won only 1 in last 6 matches. While watching both teams game, the tempo and team spirit shows the reason of these results.

Fenerbahce's playmaker and star player Alex de Souza won't be able to play against Fenerbahce. Also defenders Onder Turaci and Diego Lugano are suspended. Players like Emre, Volkan and Semih which were out of squad because of their bans, will be on the pitch this Sunday. The only missing player in Besiktas is Marcio Nobre because of his back injury.

I believe, Yusuf Simsek will be the key player for Besiktas. Last week against Eskisehirspor, we have seen his talents and how he can change the result for one more time. With the help of Bobo, Holosko, Tello and Ernst, Besiktas will beat Fenerbahce. But also, when we remember Galatasaray match and all other matches between Fenerbahce and Besiktas, we all know that Fenerbahce players concentrate differently to big matches. If their 'weak looking' defence manages to play well and Deivid de Souza and Semih Senturk can create something, with a huge surprise, Fenerbahce would beat Besiktas.

Being A Part

I am great fan of football and if I wanted to be really famous about something, that would be definetly football. I played for many youth teams in my career. If I did not stop playing for Galatasaray because of my injury, I could have a chance to be at least in the reserve team at the moment. Maybe I would be playing alongside my favortite players Arda Turan and Harry Kewell. I am not interested to be famous. What I am interested is to be a great football player for Galatasaray, which would bring popularity also. As Harry Kewell said, it is a previlege to be a part of Galatasaray. I would love to be a part of Galatasaray also. Maybe, I will have a chance in other ways, like the board or something else, in the future.

Turkiye - Espana

A thrilling weekend is expected. The most important match for Turkish National Team, in the World Cup 2010 Qualifications is this Saturday against Spain. Playing in Santiago Barnabeu, in front of 80,000 people will not be easy for Turkey. Since the draws, this match has been in the minds and waited excitedly. In the Group 5, Spain has 12, Turkey has 8 and Belgium has 7 points. Because, only the first two teams can participate in World Cup 2010, Turkey should at least draw against Spain and beat them in 1^st of March, in Ali Sami Yen Stadium.  . In Euro 2008, Spain was the champions and Turkey was 3^rd. So it will be the challenge of Europe’s best team and Europe’s third best team. Turkey’s vital players like defender Servet Cetin, midfielder Mehmet Topal are out of squad because of their injuries. Also Carles Puyol, Cesc Fabregas and Andres Iniesta are unavailable for these games. Both teams have some disadvantages, but it is for sure that we will watch 2 tough matches. I believe that, Gokhan Gonul, Hamit Altintop, Arda Turan and Semih Senturk will be the players for Turkey, who can make things more positive. Xavi Hernandez, Fernando Torres and David Silva are likely to create some trouble for Turkey in Madrid. Having a motivation professor in the staff is also another advantage for Turkey. The manager Fatih Terim, has always showed his class in these type of big and important matches. Both teams have many things in common. The manager of Spain, Vicente Del Bosque, also worked in Besiktas, Istanbul in 2004. Spanis striker Daniel Guiza, is currently playing for Fenerbahce. Nihat Kahveci, Ibrahim Kas and Mehmet Aurelio are performing in Spanish La Liga.  Massimo Busacca from Switzerland will officiate the game. FC Barcelona is having a great season. They have scored 121 in 44 games. Leo Messi has 30, Samuel Eto'o has 27 and Thierry Henry scored 20 goals. I have been in football for nearly 15 years but I haven't seen a performance like this. Watching Barca is like watching your friends Playstation match. I am totally sure that they will win more than 2 cups.

Euro 2016

Turkish Football Federation has applied for Euro 2016. Italy applied 2 weeks ago and there are some more candidates for this cup. UEFA asks for at least 9 high level stadiums which Turkey has only 4. With the future constructions, it is possible for Turkey to organize the cup.

Captian Returns

The great ex-captain of Tottenham Hotspur has returned to his home from Liverpool. Robbie Keane signed for Liverpool at the begining of the season for 23 million euros. He didn't have his best days in Liverpool, so he decided to return where he belongs to. Tottenham has offered 14.5 million euros and the Merseyside club has accepted it. They now have the strong offensive line which the fans missed it after Keane signed for Liverpool and Defoe signed for Portsmouth. It will be a fresh start for Captain Keane after his Liverpool days.
